Overview
The Zaius integration with Mailchimp allows for your customer and email activity data to be brought over to Zaius. Zaius will automatically capture all email send, open, and click events for your customers while also syncing Zaius insights and observations back to Mailchimp regularly.
Please note that you must separately enable both the integration to send data to Zaius and the integration to send data back to Mailchimp to take advantage of both functions.
Send Data to Zaius
Enable the Zaius Mailchimp integration to send customers and email activity into Zaius. This integration is one-way, meaning it only sends data in to Zaius.
Available data
The data made available by the integration is:
Customer Data: The customers from the audience chosen during integration and all customers that have received an email in the last 60 days.
Subscription Data: The subscription status for the audience members chosen during integration. The possible statuses are:
- Subscribed: Mailchimp sends a "subscribe" event. This event results in a "null" value for the customer's global consent in Zaius. With a "null" value, consent is implied, and the customer will receive emails.
- Unsubscribed: Mailchimp sends an "unsubscribe" event. This event results in a false value for the customer's global consent in Zaius. With a "false" value, the customer will not receive emails.
- Cleaned: Mailchimp sends a "bounce" event. This event results in a "null" value for the customer's global consent in Zaius but also a "false" value for their reachability. Customers with a"false" value for reachability will not receive emails.
Email Activity Data: The last 60 days of activity, which includes sends, opens, clicks, and bounces.
Configuration
Generate an API key in Mailchimp and insert that key into the Mailchimp integration tile in Zaius under Account Settings > Integrations. Also, select the desired customer audience by inserting it into the List Name field. Typically, the selected list is your "Master Audience" or the audience with the most members.
Select the Save option. The integration will be enabled and start the initial import. It could take a few hours for the initial import to finish depending on the volume of email history in the last 60 days.
Send Data Back to Mailchimp
Enable the Zaius Mailchimp Sync app to send customer insights, observations, and attributes that are generated in Zaius back to Mailchimp for email targeting. This integration is one-way, meaning it only sends data back to Mailchimp.
Available data
Any customer attribute, insight, or observation is available to sync back to Mailchimp. When you configure the integration, Zaius will suggest a default set of attributes. You may add or delete attributes at any time. Deleting an attribute from your settings does not remove the field or the data on the Mailchimp side, but the field will stop refreshing; you may wish to delete it yourself.
Data will sync overnight every night, for all customers in Zaius with an email and who are in the Mailchimp audience/list configured. Zaius will not create new customers in Mailchimp.
Configuration
First, click the Install button in the MailChimp Sync app in the Zaius App Directory.
Next, generate an API key in Mailchimp and insert that key in the API Key field under Authorize. You may use the same key you generated for sending data in to Zaius. Authenticate to test the connection.
Finally, configure your sync. First, choose what list to sync back to—only customers on this list will have Zaius data appended. You may add or remove fields to sync, or retain the defaults. Click in the "Fields for Sync" box to see a list of options. Once you have identified the fields that you want to sync, click Save. Make sure you save even if you do not make changes to the defaults. You may then start an immediate sync. If you do not start a sync, your next sync will be overnight.
Come back to this page at any time to make changes to this configuration.
