Overview
Every email needs a proper footer to be CAN-SPAM compliant. Zaius creates a default footer that can be easily added to campaigns to ensure you include:
- Unsubscribe information
- Company name
- Company physical address
You can change the design of the footer to be anything you want, but it MUST contain this information or it will hurt your deliverability.
In this guide we will walk you through updating a FOOTER element that can be used in future content.
Find Your Footer Element
You can see your footer by going to Engage -> Templates and clicking Create New Template. Once you are in a template you can drag in the FOOTER element from the bottom right (as shown in the screen capture below).
Update Your Social Links
Make sure your social links have the correct links in them. You can add and remove the social networks so that you only include the ones that you want.
Update Any Design Elements If Needed
You can also change any design elements (font, color, structure, etc.) as long as the unsubscribe information, company name, and address are not removed.
Link to Preference Center
If you are using a preference center, which Zaius highly recommends, you can change the main link of your footer to be a link to your preference center instead of direct unsubscribe links. This allows you to manage more specific preferences for your users and collect more information about your users.
If you do not see a Preference Center in your selection list, that means you do not have one published. Don't forget to Design and Publish your Preference Center.
Save Your Footer Element
Once you have finished editing your footer we are going to save it as an element so that it can be pulled into future content. You need to make sure you save the whole section or sections that you want to be your FOOTER as shown below. Using the Element Tree to select the Section:
Then you can save the Element and choose to replace the existing one or save a new one.
