Overview
Scopes are combined with the default user permissions and roles to create custom data views for your users. They are typically used when one Zaius account is tracking multiple sites or brands as the scopes allow the administrator to provide access to each site or brand's information individually.
Create new scopes
Scopes are expressions used to identify what kind of data will be displayed to users. To create one:
- In your Zaius account, click the Account Settings
icon in the main navigation bar.
- In the sidebar, select Scopes under the General section.
- In the upper right, click Create New Scope.
- Name and customize your scope. Examples can be found here.
- In the upper right, click the Save button.
Scope examples
When creating scopes, you will be able to use the +Value, +Add, and +Or options. These allow your scope's expression to become more complex and targeted. Each example below reviews how these options can build on each other to create a more specific experience for your users. The examples also assume you will be applying the scope to all of the user's roles.
The +Value option allows additional values to be considered in an individual rule. In this case, the +Value option was used to create a scope for access to the data of several Host Names. Users would only be able to access data related to abc.com or def.com.
The +And option allows you to require that multiple rules be considered at once. In this case, the +Add option was used in conjunction with the +Value option to create a scope for access to the mobile-centric data of several Host Names. Users would not be able to access data related to other host names or devices (e.g., Desktop).
The +Or option allows a completely separate rule to also be considered. In this case, the +Or option was used in conjunction with the previous ruleset to create a scope for access to the mobile-centric data of abc.com and def.com or all the data related to ghi.com.
