In the reports tool, you can view the standard reports in your account, along with any custom reports that you create. Custom reports allow you to analyze data from various sources, such as your customer profiles.
This brief video reviews combining the various report elements to create a custom report on the unit and gross sales numbers of a business. Dig deeper into the video's concepts by reviewing the rest of the information in this article.
Create a report
To create a custom report:
- Click New Report in the upper left.
1. Expression Filter
The expression that an event must match to be included in the report. The options that appear here can be reviewed and managed in the Filters tool.
2. Date Range
The date range used to refine the results of the report's expression further.
Use the link icon to compare two different periods. This comparison will be reflected in the graph but will not affect the table. The table will only reflect values from the primary date range.
If you use one of the default date range options, you can opt for the report to use a sliding scale when you save. This means the report will constantly update based on that selected range (e.g. Last week) and won't need to be manually updated.
3. Simple Filter
The simple filter will present you with the option to select a field and specify a value. This filter will apply to all events included in the report's expression.
Further refines the report's results by only applying the report's expression to the customers in the selected segment. Learn more about creating and managing segments.
5. Time Series Header
In addition to the metric being displayed by the selected fields, the metric will also be shown as a function of time. This header highlights the metric and date range selected in the report's expression and shown in the time series chart.
6. Axis Control
This allows you to determine how the date range of the time-series graph is broken down. Your hour, day, week, or month selection will be applied to the X-axis.
7. Report Name
This is the report's name. It cannot be changed. To use a different name, you will need to click the Save dropdown menu at the upper right, select Save as New Report, and provide the required information including the new name.
These allow you to display the results of the expression filter by a unique set of fields or a rocket column. A rocket column allows you to craft a powerful expression sentence to further segment your results. The default column is events and data is not displayed until another field is selected.
