We’ve introduced enhancements to the Segment Builder that will make your segment creation experience more user-friendly and seamless.
Segment Header and Metrics Improvements
We updated the metrics on the Segment tile to display more functional information about your audience’s reachability.
The large number under the Reachable label shows the number of reachable people in the segment. (Reachability refers to the ability to deliver a message. It is the intersection of consent status, deliverability, and compliance.) Zaius expects to be able to deliver your message to this number of people, across all channels. The number next to your reachable number indicates the total number of people in your segment, including those who are not reachable and won’t be receiving your message.
Under the Reachability by Channel label, you will see how many people in your segment are reachable across all the channels you have integrated in your account. Among these channels are email, app push, web push, SMS, and direct mail. Hover over the metrics to see exact numbers.
Note that if you have one channel only, you won’t see the reachability metrics broken out by channels and you will only see the total reachable segment and the total segment size metrics.
You will see similar changes in the segment selector as well: It will now display the number of reachable people in your segment, followed by the total number of people in them (including those who are unreachable).
When you are editing a previously saved segment, you will have three ways to take action on your newly modified definition:
- Preview: See how your metrics would look if you applied the changes to your existing segment's definition. The definition and metric changes won't be applied to the analysis below the segment.
- Apply without saving: Apply the updated segment's definition to the analysis below, without overwriting your existing segment's definition.
- Save: Overwrite your existing segment's definition AND apply it to the analysis below the segment.
User Interface Enhancements
We implemented better default sentence structures in the segment builder. In the new experience, strings are automatically set on default values to reduce the number of clicks you need to take.
You’ll also notice subtle changes to the look-and-feel of the segment builder, such as sizing and color changes. The purpose of these is to reduce the need for scrolling and to create a more on-brand look.
Finally, we updated the way you would include people with unknown values in your segment. You can now simply check a box to “Include customers when this value is not known” under the value selector. In our example, you see we are creating a segment of customers with email addresses, whose country is not the United States OR for whom we don’t have an address.
